Virginia Community Squash: A letter from the President

This letter is dedicated to our remarkable Virginia Community Squash volunteer coaches. For over ten years Virginia Squash Racquets Association (Virginia Squash), a 501 c3 non-profit organization, has delivered community-based youth squash programming mainly supported by a robust team of volunteers and donations from individuals and local organizations. We operate in Richmond and Fredericksburg, Virginia, usually at the YMCA squash courts.

This year we expanded programming to include a focus on bringing our sport to young women. We certified eight new Virginia Community Squash Volunteer Coach level I women coaches and included 77 women in our on-court women’s programming, “Squash & Skills for Girls” a new Virginia Community Squash program.

We have been more impactive than ever before through our programs including Squash & Skills for Girls and the Girls for a Change Summer Squash Camp, SquashRocks!, Boys and Girls Club Summer Squash Camp and Fredericksburg Community Squash; and, through our partnerships with Richmond Public Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Orchard House and of course, the YMCA of Greater Richmond and the YMCA in Fredericksburg.

We hope to continue to grow our programming and increase our key performance measurements this upcoming season with your help.

With great appreciation,

John Patton President, Virginia Squash
